Re: First Deadline
Ok guys...
Can you all have you CV's done and sent to me by this Friday please, I have emailed out a template!
Elliot - Could you try to have a basic costing structure figured out by Thursday if possible, if not then Friday. Nothing too fancy, just to give us an idea of sensible numbers etc, rather than the ones Mike made gave us...
Scott - Can you have a general requirements Spec done for the meeting on thursday please
Everyone - can we all have a look over the requirements we have so far and :
- figure out any more questions we need to ask Peter
- add what you think are the correct priority levels to the requirements eg high, medium, low (we can think of better words later)
I'll arrange another meeting with Peter on either Monday or Tuesday, and hopefully that means we can have the requirements sorted out by the end of next week.
Pip - can i leave the requirements in the hands of you and Scott?
Valerie - would it be ok if we worked together on a project plan if Elliot does the costing?
Richard - could you start to concentrate on the Risk Management plan please? If you want any help please just ask!
Oh, and last but not least, can we all start thinking of a company name? And if any of you are artistic dont be afraid to start designing a logo!!
Thanks guys

Re: First Deadline
Ok no problem I just have a few questions:
1 - Do we absolutely have to use the CV template? Can't I just use my usual CV I sent to you the other day?
2 - The Risk Management plan is.... like I write how we could manage eventual risk so that it won't be troublesome if it does happens.... or something like that? I don't really listen in software engineering lectures...

Costing/CV's/Risk/Stuff
Hey guys shame about the meeting earlier but i suppose it couldn't be helped. Onwards and upwards!!
1. Costing should be done easily enough by Thursday. As i said before the numbers Mike gave were far to general. Obviously my distributions and the roles in the costings may have to change but it'll be a good first impression.
2. As for the CV's i don't mind which format we use but all CV's should be in the same format, makes the project and the team look much more professional when we hand in the document.
3. Risk Analysis need to be done, if you have seen the document I sent out last week you can see what this looks like (although obviously many of our risks are different). If you want me to do this once we have a defined set of risks i am more than happy to, we should perhaps draw up this list .
4. Also once the requirements are drawn up we can work on the Non-functional requirements etc. We will also need diagrams of the basic system and a reasonably detailed project diary.
Will finish CV tomorrow morning and have it sent by early afternoon, we really could have this done nice and early if we work hard enough =)
And yes...again with the late replies...night owl...sleep well everyone =).

Further Update
Hey folks!
I've drawn up a first draft of the costing so that i could pass it around tomorrow and see what people think...I'm sure I'll have missed something silly somewhere! Might need a few adjustments in the assigned roles in the costs as well, however all in all i think it's not too bad.
Might have a go at a logo/name later today if i get time.
If anyone needs help with anything or needs me to do for anything them gimme an e-mail or a text (number is 07853203016).
P.S If anyone is wondering about all the odd reply times, my sleep isn't all that great at the moment so i end up not sleeping or waking up really early (like this morning)!

Does it really look more professional? To me it just seems like people who did it at the last minute doing all the same things... I think CVs have to be personal. Lilia Georgieva even said:
Finally, a Curriculum Vitae for each member
of the team should be submitted. These should be your real student CVs; not fabricated ones.
Cheers

CV's

I agree that everyone's should be their own, but having 6 different C.V's in different formatting wouldn't look very good in a real company's document. The template is there to keep the main formatting and layout. Obviously however there will be slight differences between each members CV. I think that what Lilia is referring to is that your project C.V's should be similar to one you would use in real life for something like an interview or placement. To this end the CV I handed out in my document last week is largely similar to the C.V I use in many real life situations.
Also if you look at many of the group projects from the last few years you will see that they have followed this same principal.

Re: First Deadline
I agree Flex is useful and looks good, but for now I think we should stick to more traditional methods such as HTML & CSS etc. Its easy enough to mock up a site using that and I dont think it has nearly as many compatibility issues.
Might be a good idea to get a draft requirements doc and prototype of the screens (eg the website) to show the customer before we meet them next. I cant remember what the actual requirement was - is it booking through the website or an interface for staff to make bookings on site or both?
Regardless, I think some basic mock ups of the interfaces would be a good idea! Would help us all get a clearer idea of whats going on, too. I'm not sure what the best way we can handle the different functions needed for the software is, we can discuss this tomorrow.
edit: I'm happy to work on a project plan with you, maybe we can arrange a time to meet and discuss it between us?

Re: First Deadline
Stuff to Do:
Val & Emma - Project Plan (meeting tomorrow at AI lecture spot to discuss it)
Scott & Pip - write up the general requirements document. Take the requirements Pip made today and list them logically. Try and write up a formal looking document (see the template in Monicas notes).
Elliot & Richard - Risk Analysis.
Emma - Email Mike (regarding The Stuff™) and Peter. Email us all to let us know when we will be able to meet him.
All - post websites on the topic I made for discussion.
Valerie/Elliot: if we get time maybe we can make some mock ups of the screens? probably later after we finalise requirements.
Try and have a good stab at this stuff before we next meet so we can discuss it.

Email to Peter.....
I have emailed mike, and his response was that I have to send Steven 2 more emails stating it is his last chance, and Cc Mike in on them...
As for emailing Peter, from what i can see above we need specifics on:
- Discount amounts for the website
- Meal packages and prices
- Amount of staff, their contracted hours (department they work in?)
- The kind of marketing material he would like and how it should be generated
- Exact number of rooms
- Different kinds of reports, how often they are generated and what priority they have.
Anyone got anything they wanna add in?

Re: First Deadline
I think we need to have a good look at that URD that monica posted as an example, and make sure we have all the information we need to emulate it.
