Second Deliverable

Hi folks!

Well after a few minor hiccups the document was handed in safely on Friday, much resp. to those who saw it off Smile.

As for the second deliverable, there are 3 main parts from reading what Lilia has said:

Designs: Pretty self explanatory really Smile!
Designs of the system with relevant mock screen shots and data flow, schema and diagram for the database, page structure for the website and overall system structure and operation.

Marketing: Marketing strategies for both the group and the customer, showing how the group has progressed as a business to this point (I.E Make some crap up! Smile ). The company website should be completed by this point.

Implementation Plan: How the system will be built and who is doing what, kinda like the project diary but more precise and also an evaluating strategy covering things like testing strategies and system checking.

If we work quickly we should be able to finish this deliverable in plenty of time so that we can worry more about revising for exams and stuff. The deadline is week 12 but exams begin week 13 so maybe if we work towards week 10?

Anyways, sorry for the Saturday posting but I'm at home and very very bored lol.

I should have the task allocation all sorted out by Tuesday

Only thing I seem to have definite at the moment is Richard on the Database stuff, bit do not fear, i will have it all sorted!!

And ooeeuughk I really cant see his very well at all!!

Apologies for insulting the artwork, its just that my eyes arent so good Sad

So as things are looking at the moment, here is what I have planned for us all for the next deliverable....

Design - Scott and Pip - It's quite a big job guys but since you worked so well on the URD I am sure between you, you can make an excellent job of it Very Happy We can all discuss how we want the system to look in more detail at tomorrows meeting to help get you started!

The design part will also include design for the database as well as the system - Richard this will be your job, and if you find it is alot of work to do by yourself, one of us CS crew can help you out! I am assuming you will need to work with Scott and Pip anyway to make sure everything integrates nicely! Smile

Implementation Plan - Emma Jane - Since I worked on the project plan, I'll do this bit, seeing as it's pretty much the same thing in a little bit more detail!

Evaluation Strategy - Valerie, Emma Jane and Steven - This part is mainly how we plan to test our program, split into 3 sections: Technical Purpose, Usability and Fit for Purpose

Marketing Strategy - Elliot and whoever else knows something about marketing! - So this part is split into 2 Group and Customer. Elliot reckons he can knock up the Group marketing strategy, and I hope we can all contribute towards the customer one!! 7 heads are better than one im sure....

The marketing part also involves the web design for both us and the customer, this will be covered by mainly by Valerie and Elliot.

Everything seems evenly spread out, but if you feel there is something else you would be better working on, let me know and it can be fiddled about a bit!!

We can discuss this all in more detail at tomorrows meeting, and although we are all working in smaller groups or individually, we can all certainly throw ideas at each other, or "braindump" should I say?

Hey guys!

Hope all the work is going well, The ER Diagram is taking shape!!

Richard and I have been working on the mock ups of the system, we'll bring them along on Thursday, so you can see what you think, and give any suggestions on what could be better/changed on them.

Elliot and Valerie have been hard at work on the timetabling Smile which they can show us on Thursday as well, and Elliot tells me he is posting their ideas on here later on Smile

I'll book a room again for Thursday's meeting, usual time of 1.15!!

Ye the beginnings of this devilspawn timetabling system are underway Twisted Evil . We may need to alter our requirements a little and get some info from Peter. No big deal, though.

I have a rather bad cold at the moment - I'm still in bed getting heat off me laptop while I write up this stuff. Not sure it will appear here but I will certainly email it round or bring it on Thursday.

Oh we also need to differentiate between overspill and "normal" staff either using an attribute or another enitity - for when we are generating timetables and chekcing availability.

Not to ask a daft question, but where is this meeting? There was mention of a room, but no specific room has been named. Do we have a room? If so, where?

I was thinking.

On the website we allow people to choose which type of room they want.

maybe we could show avaiable room types depending on what drop down number they choose instead? The reason Im asking is because it would be possible for 1 person to book a room for 4 or 4 people to book a room for 1.

?

Its just im writing the testing document so blabbering away while Im at it before I forget =)
